Description: 
At 802 PM EDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in State Routes 36, 248, 417, and Honey Run Road near Hornell causing water over roadways. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Hornell, Canisteo, Woodhull, Jasper, Troupsburg, Arkport, Greenwood, Hartsville, South Dansville, North Hornell, Buena Vista, West Greenwood, Young Hickory and Willeyville. State Route 36 and 248, as well as Honey Run Road near Hornell, is reported closed due to water over roadways.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
