Description:
At 659 PM EDT, Heavy rain continues across the warned area. Between
1.5 and 3 inches of rain has already fallen with an additional inch
of rain expected this evening. Flash flooding is ongoing.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways and streets.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Auburn, Owasco, Sennett, Skaneateles, Locke, Marcellus, Jordan,
Moravia, Niles, Sempronius, Kelloggsville, Casowasco, Cascade,
Montville, Melrose Park, Elbridge, New Hope, Marietta, Edgewater
and Sherwood.
The Owasco Inlet at Moravia river gauge is indicating a very fast
rise with the river stage expected to exceed minor flooding before 8
PM.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
