Description:
Band of heavy rainfall approaching New Orleans and surrounding
southshore cities through late-morning.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of southeast Louisiana, including the following
parishes, Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St.
Charles and St. John The Baptist.
* WHEN...Until 1245 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 848 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected
over the area. Intense rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per
hour will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
New Orleans, Metairie, Avondale, Marrero, Harvey, Timberlane,
Belle Chasse, Chalmette, Hahnville, East New Orleans,
Laplace, Jefferson, Gretna, Harahan, Westwego, Elmwood,
Bridge City, River Ridge, Waggaman and Ama.

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
