* WHAT...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, along with small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Nebraska, including the following counties, in central Nebraska, Sherman. In south central Nebraska, Buffalo, Dawson, Gosper and Phelps. * WHEN...Until 430 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, along with small stream flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 101 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that light rain continues in the Advisory area, but the heavy rain from earlier Monday evening are no longer occurring. However, much of the Advisory area picked up 1 to 2 inches of rain over the last several hours, with higher amounts around 3 inches mainly concentrated in southern Sherman County including the Hazard and Litchfield areas. The previous rain, along with perhaps as much as one-quarter to one-half-inch of rain still possible early this morning, could cause continued flooding of small streams and poor drainage areas for several more hours. - This includes, but is not limited to, the following streams and drainages... Oak Creek, East Branch Muddy Creek, North Dry Creek, Beaver Creek, Plum Creek, Cherry Creek, Buffalo Creek, Crooked Creek, Sand Creek, Mud Creek, Turkey Creek, East Branch Turkey Creek, Dry Creek, West Branch Turkey Creek, Prairie Creek, Elm Creek, Clear Creek, Spring Creek, Elk Creek. - Some locations that could experience flooding include... Lexington, Ravenna, Elm Creek, Elwood, Overton, Odessa, Pleasanton, Litchfield, Amherst, Riverdale, Rockville, Hazard, Smithfield, Poole and Johnson Lake. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
