Description:
* WHAT...Poor drainage and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected within the hilly and mountainous terrain.
* WHERE...A portion of east central New York, including the
following counties, Greene and Ulster.
* WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. This area has
already experienced heavy rain over the past few days and is
therefore more vulnerable to renewed flooding as
additional moderate to heavy rain falls this evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 854 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of
rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hunter, Lanesville, Phoenicia, Mount Tremper, Shandaken,
Jewett, Lexington, Spruceton, Allaben, Chichester, West Kill,
Jewett Center, Bushnellsville, South Jewett, West Jewett,
Woodland, Mosquito Point, North Lexington, Big Indian and
Edgewood.

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
