Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...A portion of east central Kansas, including the following
counties, Coffey and Osage.
* WHEN...Until 900 AM CDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 140 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is
already occurring in the warned area. Between 2.5 and 5.5
inches of rain have fallen.
- No additional rainfall is expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Osage City, Burlington, Lyndon, Lebo, Waverly, New Strawn,
Quenemo, Melvern, Hartford, Gridley, Reading, Olivet, Beto
Junction, John Redmond Reservoir, Melvern Lake, Le Roy and
Pomona Lake.
- This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 144 and 167.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
