Slate Creek At Wellington affecting Sumner and Cowley Counties.

Walnut River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Slate Creek at Wellington.
* WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening.
* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, The Kansas Turnpike may begin to take on
water between mile marker 14 and 15 near the vicinity of Slate
Creek. Road closure may be possible near this section of the
Kansas Turnpike if the creek continues to rise.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:46 PM CDT Saturday the stage was 21.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is cresting and is expected to fall
below flood stage late tomorrow morning and continue falling
to 4.2 feet early Thursday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
Instruction:
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.
