At 927 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Springfield, or 7 miles southwest of Hammond, moving northeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Locations impacted include... Tickfaw, Ponchatoula, Natalbany, Hammond, Springfield, Independence, Killian, and Albany. This includes the following Interstates... Interstate 12 between mile markers 29 and 45. Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 24 and 40. This hail core will move directly over Hammond and Ponchatoula.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 100 AM CDT for southeastern Louisiana. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers.
