Description:
At 1158 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Slidell to 6 miles northwest of New Orleans, moving
east at 25 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Lake Catherine, New Orleans, East New Orleans, Pearlington, Slidell,
and Lacombe.
This includes the following Interstates...
Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 245 and 256, and
between mile markers 259 and 265.
Interstate 510 between mile markers 1 and 3.
Instruction:
If on or near areas of water, get away and move to safe shelter
immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be
struck by lightning. Severe thunderstorms can produce large capsizing
waves, even on small bodies of water. Move into dock and seek safe
shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
