* Until 400 PM EDT.
* At 203 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong
winds to nearly 50 knots were located along a line extending from
20 nm northwest of Topsail Beach to near Cherry Grove Beach,
moving east at 30 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and small
hail.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
* Locations impacted include...
Masonboro Island, Harris Reef, City Of Houston, 10 Mile Rocks,
Bald Head Island, Sheepshead Rock, Buoy Off Carolina Beach, Frying
Pan Shoals Light Tower, Wr2, Wr4, Cape Fear Knuckle Buoy, 5 Mile
Boxcars, 10 Mile Boxcars, Liberty Ship, Dallas Rock, and Billy
Murrell Reef.
Instruction:
Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
If caught on the open water, prepare for deteriorating conditions.
Make sure you and your crew are wearing properly fitted life jackets.
Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
