Waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC from 20 to 40 nm...
At 241 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing winds to
nearly 50 knots were located along a line extending from 10 nm
northwest of Surf City to near Buoy A R 445, moving east at 25 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and small hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

Wreck 33, Johnny Mercer Pier, Masonboro Sea Buoy, Frying Pan Shoals
Buoy, 10 Mile Rocks, Bald Head Island, Sheepshead Rock, Buoy Off
Carolina Beach, Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower, Wr2, Wr4, Cape Fear
Knuckle Buoy, 5 Mile Boxcars, 10 Mile Boxcars, Liberty Ship, Dallas
Rock, and Billy Murrell Reef.
Instruction:
Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
