Description:
At 421 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Prairie, or 8 miles west of Aberdeen, moving east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Binford, Sipsey Fork, New Hamilton, Becker, Quincy, Aberdeen,
Smithville, Turon, Egypt, Prairie, New Wren, Splunge, Wise Gap,
Athens, Wren, Amory, Hatley, East Aberdeen, Bigbee, and Muldon.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 PM CDT for
northeastern Mississippi.
