Description:
At 243 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Pomona, or near Sloatsburg, moving northeast at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
New City, Peekskill, Monsey, Haverstraw, Pomona, Spring Valley, Stony
Point, West Haverstraw, Congers, Croton-on-Hudson, Hillcrest, New
Square, Mount Ivy, Viola, and Wesley Hills.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
southeastern New York.
