Description:
At 1228 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms from near Plyler to near Ansonville. Movement was
northeast at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Greensboro, High Point, Sanford, Asheboro, Albemarle, Southern Pines,
Rockingham, Wadesboro, Randleman, and Troy.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
