Description:
At 241 AM CDT, the public reported strong thunderstorms along a line
extending from 8 miles south of Russell Springs to 13 miles northwest
of Modoc to 3 miles south of Leoti to 19 miles southeast of Tribune.
Movement was east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Report near the Wallace, Logan, Wichita counties border of
49 MPH gust from weather station at 2:30 AM CT.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
These storms will remain over mainly rural areas of Wichita and
southeastern Logan Counties, including the following locations...
Marienthal and Lydia.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 AM CDT for
west central Kansas.
