Description:
At 258 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 14 miles southeast of Russell Springs to 3
miles west of Scott State Lake to 3 miles southwest of Modoc to 15
miles southeast of Leoti. Movement was east at 45 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Weather station in Leoti recorded a 56 MPH gust at 2:41 AM
CT.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
These storms will remain over mainly rural areas of eastern Wichita
and southeastern Logan Counties, including the following locations...
Marienthal and Lydia.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 AM CDT for
west central Kansas.
